“The most incredible beauty and the most satisfying way of life come from affirming your own uniqueness.” - Jane Fonda
Balance, habits and whole person health- what are your needs?
What areas do you wish you could change? Why is it so hard to break old habits?
Taking the time to identify which areas are most important to you is an important (and often overlooked) first step. There is no “one size fits all” or right answer to where to begin - your own answers ensure more satisfying and enduring success, unique to your life goals.
Stress management, anxiety, and resilience
How you approach chronic and acute stressors profoundly affects your health. While it’s not always possible to eliminate stress, recognizing its causes and effects and learning skills to manage it can increase joy and resilience and improve your physical well-being. You can truly rewire your brain circuits to strengthen resilience skills, foster a positive outlook, and decrease your risk of illness. Integrative coaching emphasizes this “mind-body” connection, using a variety of stress management techniques and practices, working within your own belief systems and style, to impact wellness.
Life transitions and choices
Some life changes are an anticipated part of the natural rhythm of life, others are thrust on us unexpectedly. How do you navigate transitions while staying true to your core values? How do you weigh out your options and evaluate your choices without feeling overwhelmed? A thoughtful approach to facing choices with a mindful “growth-mindset” attitude helps assure successful transitions, helping you flourish rather than just survive the changes.
Life during a pandemic
Prolonged social isolation, financial worries, health concerns, schools and work reopening, uncertainty about the future; we are collectively facing a time of unprecedented change. You may be facing anxiety, grief, anger, or other emotions. You may feel overwhelmed by the sheer volume of data, disagreement, and changing recommendations. The challenges each person faces during these times are both unique and universal. Coaching can help.
Relationships and communication
Maintaining our relationships with family, friends and colleagues is a critical contributor to whole person health and resilience. Relationships can be rewarding, challenging, and tricky to navigate. Improving healthy communication skills can help you get what you need in order to build and nurture your robust support network.
Caring for caregivers
As an experienced physician, I am all too aware of the unique stressors faced by health care providers and other caregivers; the pandemic crisis has worsened an already stressful profession. Doctors, nurses, and caregivers can make “the worst patients,” after years of training in prioritizing others’ needs. Confidential support in maintaining self-compassion and balancing the demands of caregiving with the need for self-care is a passion and niche that I am honored to provide, both in my medical profession and in my coaching profession. Reach out to see if we are a good fit!
Parenting & families
Being a parent is filled with moments of incredible warmth, joy, and meaning. But each stage of childhood can also present us with challenges, no matter the size; from temperamental toddlers to moody middle schoolers to self-conscious teens. It’s hard work to prioritize staying truly present for kids while balancing the demands of a hectic, multi-tasking world. Cultivating a mindful outlook helps you really appreciate the highs and better manage the lows along the way, and maintain your humor, flexibility, and sanity!
I have a particular interest in coaching families and friends of individuals who are coming out as queer, non-binary, or transgender. Sharing your thoughts and experiences with a confidential, non-judgmental support helps allies and families of LGBTQI navigate the journey purposefully, to preserve and strengthen relationships in a time of rapid and potentially stressful change.
